FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY FAQs
How long does it take to photograph food?
How long a food photo shoot will take depends on factors like the type of food being photographed and the number of dishes you have. A food photography session can take around 2 hours or more. This includes the time it takes to set up the shoot, breakdown and take test shots.
In some cases, it can take up to a full day. The key here is to not let the food sit around for hours on end because this can make the food start to look unpleasant. One example involves whipped cream toppings. You would add such toppings right before the actual shot as lighting and air tend to deflate the loft in the cream.
How much space is needed to setup photo shoot onsite?
Whenever possible a table near natural lighting tends to be desirable. Chris will also bring artificial lighting and diffusion panels if necessary to obtain best results. The space required for a food photography shoot is typically a 10 foot x 10 foot area.
Do you offer remote or photo sessions offsite?
Yes. In some instances the restaurant location may not offer enough space, poor lighting or tend to be very busy for an onsite photo shoot. In these cases it is possible to perform the photo shoot at another location. Chris can perform food photography sessions at his studio in Oxnard or remotely entirely. Food can be delivered and styled accordingly as needed.
